Level 1 "Bubbles" - Skills to be learned:

Gradual adaption to the water. Breathe hold and release. Submersion of face. Open eyes under water. Blowing bubbles on wall. Wall bobs with yelling count. Dog paddle arem movement in the water. Flutter kicking with kick board on front and back. Blowing bubble while kicking.

Advancement Requirement:

10 relaxed wall bobs with air exchange.

 

Level 2 "Floats" - Skills to be learned:

Front float face in water. Back float. Switching from front float to back float, practice yelling for help. Jumping bobs. Steamline position. Streamline bobs. Streamline front float. Streamline back float.

Advancement Requirement:

Front float 5 seconds and recover. Back float 5 seconds and recover.

 

Level 3 "Glides and Kicking" - Skills to be learned:

Front glide streamliine position and recover. Front flutter kick streamline position and recover. Back glide streamline position and recover. Back kick streamline position and recover. Porpoising. SeeSaw body movement. Dolphin kick, glide and recover.

Advancement Requirement:

Front streamline glide 15 feet. Front streamline flutter kick 15 feet. Back streamline glide 15 feet. Back streamline flutter kick 15 feet.

 

Level 4 "Crawl Stroke" - Skills to be learned:

Finning and sculling. Sitting on kickboard sculling. Side-Glide-Kick face in water. Side-Glide-Kick with breath and return face in water. Crawl armstrokes.

Advancement Requirement:

Side-Glide-Flutter kick 20 feet. Crawl stroke with no breathing 20 feet.

 

Level 5 "Freestyle" - Skills to be learned:

Crawl stroke with breathing to side. Bi-lateral breathing. Handstands. Sommersaults. Double Sommersaults. Backward Sommersaults.

Advancement Requirement:

Freestyle with breathing (minimum of 4 breaths) for 30 feet (almost 1/2 length of pool).

 

Level 6 "Backstroke" - Skills to be learned:

Extended Freestyle swimming. Backwards bobs. Backstroke arms. Sitting dive. Kneeling dive. Standing dive. Treading water.

Advancement Requirement:

Swim Freestyle 25 yards without stopping. Swim Backstroke 30 feet (almost 1/2 length). Tread water for 1 minute..

 

Level 7 "Breaststroke and Butterfly" - Skills to be learned:

Windshield wiper w/ SeeSaw. Breaststroke Kick. Breaststroke arms. Breaststroke swim. Butterfly arms. Butterfly swim.

Advancement Requirement:

Freestyle 50 yards. Backstroke swim 25 yards. Breaststroke kick 20 feet.

 

Level 8 "Turns" - Skills to be learned:

Freestyle with bi-lateral breathing. Freestyle Flip turns. Backstroke Flip turns. Open turns.

Advancement Requirement:

Swim 100 yards with bi-lateral breathing continuously for at least 25 yards. Swim 25 yards Breaststroke. Swim 30 feet (almost 1/2 length of pool) Butterfly.

 

Level 9 "Lifestyle Strokes" - Skills to be learned:

Sidestroke kick. Sidestroke swim. Elementary Backstroke.

Advancement Requirement:

Swim 200 yards with bi-lateral breathing continously for at least 50 yards. Swim 25 yards Butterfly. Swim 50 yards Breaststroke. Swim 50 yards Elementary Backstroke. Swim 50 yards SideStroke..

 

Level 10 "Individual Medley" - Skills to be learned:

Extended swimming and stroke technique refinement in all major strokes and turns.

Advancement Requirement:

Swim 300 yards Freestyle (12 lengths in a 25 yard pool). Swim 100 yard Backstroke (4 lengths). Swim 100 yard Individual Medley (1 length Butterfly, 1 length Backstroke, 1 length Breaststroke, 1 length Freestyle).
